Air Hogs Dr1 Racing Drone

The Air Hogs DR1 FPV Race Drone is manufactured by its parent company called Spin Masters, a company based in Canada, and is reputable for producing several toy machines and drones for teens and kids.

A Great Beginners Racing Drone
The Air Hogs DR1 is no different as it is made in the same mind. It is produced for children under the age of 10 who are just about to be exposed to the world of drones. The drone has a lot of features which makes it interesting to fly, especially for beginners or even experts who would love to explore the possibilities of the drone.

First off, its relative compatible size makes it easy to fly the Drone around, especially if you intend to use it for indoor activities. It is about the size of a palm when held, weighing just 200g. It is also about 11.5cm in both breadth and length, and 3cm in height. The DR1 is well thought and designed to be used, especially in tight spaces.
Adjustable Mode

The Air Hogs DR1 has an adjustable mode, which makes it easy for both beginner and expert users.

Duly tagged as a racing drone, it provides an authentic and realistic race experience with  FPV (First Person View) through its VR (Visual Reality) Headset Google, which is connected to a smartphone. That makes it possible to stream videos live. The Air Hogs DR1 FPV Race Drone can also record streams for later viewing, as well as editing the videos from the Air Hogs app. The app is available to Android and iOS users.
VR Headset

The VR Headset provides a very sharp and detailed bird’s-eye view of the coverage of the drone’s camera. Thrilling, isn’t it? What more can kids and teens ask?

Expected Retail Price Air Hogs DR1 Drone
Available for about $100, it is relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to other drones with similar features. It is a great place to start, especially for kids whose desire is to learn how to fly a drone.

Built in 480p Camera
The Air Hogs comes with a 480p camera that provides a good quality image. Although it’s quality cannot be compared to high-end drones, it is decent still. It can also do a 90° up/down tilt which provides an excellent view of the surrounding.

The blades of the drones have protective rings around them, should there be any crash; the safety of the drone is assured. The drone’s controller has a rather small transmitter, but big enough for the hands of kids, that can be used to perform tricks and turns, especially in tight spaces.

Fixed Battery

The battery of the Air Hogs DR1 is nonremovable, meaning that it cannot be replaced. It takes about 50-60 minutes to charge and just about 5 minutes of flight time fully. And that makes the battery life rather disappointing since it takes so long to charge and little time to run out of power. However, it can be charged via a USB, making it easy to charge. The drone as well supports a microSD, in case you need a larger space to save your videos and streams.

In all, its compatible size is really commendable, and the battery life can be improved in subsequent versions.
